One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival is organized by People in Need. People in Need is Czech non-profit, non-governmental organization, the address is Safarikova 24, Prague 2, 120 00, Czech Republic.
15th annual One World International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival (“One World”) will take place on March 4 – 13, 2012 in Prague, Czech Republic. Besides the main festival held in Prague, there is also One World in the Regions, which travels to towns throughout the Czech Republic, One World in Schools that uses films in elementary and high-school education and organizes screenings at schools. One World has grown over the years to become the largest human rights film festival in the world. It is one of the leading cultural events in Prague and the Czech Republic.
One World’s Program consists of two competition categories, a variety of non-competition categories and thematic categories, as well as Docs for Kids section. Five main awards will be given to the winning films: The Best Film Award and Best Director Award given by the Grand Jury; The Rudolf Vrba Jury Award given to the best film in the Right to Know category; the Audience Award - and Student Jury Award.
In order for One World to accept the film for the pre-selection process, the entry form must be filled out online and the preview/screener DVD must be delivered to the festival office by November 15, 2012.

The preview/screener DVD will be kept in the One World archive. No entry fees are required for submitting films.
One World accepts films presented online without sending the screener DVD only in case they are displayed at platforms without any restrictions (e.g. the streaming of the film is free of charge, number of previewing is not limited, they are available to be watched during the whole preselection process). The highly recommended online platform is Vimeo. Inform us in detail when filling in the entry form.
Films may be submitted by the filmmakers, producers, distributors or other legal representatives. The submitter of the film, i.e. filmmaker(s), producer, distributor or legal representative, should be a person that has the legal right to negotiate the use of this work with One World.
One World accepts documentary films of all lengths, including short animated films. If the film’s original language is not English or Czech, it has to be provided with English subtitles. One World accepts documentary films from all over the world.
Only documentary films produced in last two years, i.e. 2011 – 2012, will be considered for the competition. Participation in other festivals does not preclude participation in One World.
Films are chosen by One World’s selection committee. When selecting films, the committee concentrates equally on both human rights content and artistic quality.
The selection committee will inform applicants of its decision by February 15, 2013 by email.
For each selected film, the submitter or the filmmaker will be asked to give us the English and original language dialogue list, stills from the film, a photo of the director, trailer and the screening copy/data file.
For each selected film One World has the right to use three minutes of the film for One World PR on television, on the internet and use the publicity material (press books, posters, stills etc.) to promote the festival.
After the submitter is notified about film´s official selection, the entry form data of all selected films will be processed and published in the film database at: www.oneworld.cz and in the Festival Catalogue. For that reason, we ask you to please fill in all of the information on the entry form as precisely as possible to avoid mistakes in the database and catalogue. If there are any changes after submitting film, please keep us updated.
